voco Melbourne Central opens with two more hotels to follow

IHG Hotels' newest Australasian property boasts sweeping city views from every room, a rooftop swimming pool, a prime city location and 493 square metres of meeting and events space.

IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened its newest Australasian property, voco Melbourne Central, located on Lonsdale Street right in the heart of the city centre.

Housed within the impressive new ‘380 Melbourne’ skyscraper, the new-build hotel features 252 rooms, vibrant bar and restaurant, rooftop swimming pool, fitness centre, and 493 square metres of meeting and event facilities.

Every room boasts floor-to-ceiling windows looking out to city views, automated privacy curtains, coffee pod machines, fully glazed bathrooms, and other high-quality touches.

The hotel’s senior management team has also been announced, with Erik Steube appointed general manager.

Bringing a wealth of international experience to his new role, Steube joined voco Melbourne Central in September 2021 after nearly six years as general manager of InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto. He is also area general manager for Victoria and Tasmania.

Joining Steube’s team are Hobin Lee as front of house manager, Christine Bridge as director of sales and marketing, and Ian Lee as executive chef for the hotel’s Blacksmith Brasserie.

With more than 200 years’ combined experience across the entire leadership team, Steube said it was the coming together of a dream team.

“With the finishing touches on voco Melbourne Central currently being completed, we’re incredibly proud of this truly original hotel in the heart of Melbourne. Our personnel will deliver refreshing hospitality for all our guests, and many of our team members have already worked together in previous roles,” Steube said.

“Our team looks forward to opening our hotel doors to the world this Thursday and welcoming our first guests.”
