In an exclusive video interview with SpiceNews, Sofitel Gold Coast General Manager Mark Wilkinson said local demand was picking up from Adelaide and was steady from Sydney and Melbourne, while international interest has lifted from several Asian destinations.

“With the Australian dollar taking a little bit of a tumble over the last month, we have also seen some great quoting from Singapore, Korea and China, so the incentive market looks like it will kick back into the Gold Coast,” he said.

“On the back of that demand and in conjunction with Sofitel’s ‘Inspired Meetings’ program, we have had to build a new function room, which is Level 23, which caters up to 32 delegates and is targeted at the high-end market,” Wilkinson said.

He said local interest for the new Level 23 space was continuing to pick up, particularly for board meetings.
