New Zealand has welcomed its first voco hotel, with the opening of voco Auckland City Centre, a joint partnership between Pro-invest Hotels and IHG Hotels & Resorts
Superbly located on the corner of Albert and Wyndham Streets in the heart of the city centre, the new-build property is part of a dual tower development which will also house a 294-room Holiday Inn Express hotel, set to open later this month.
Each of the hotel’s 201 rooms and suites are spaciously appointed and have floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city and harbour. The marble bathrooms feature walk-in rain showers and Antipodes amenities, while smart in-room technology makes charging devices and watching your favourite Netflix shows a breeze.
The eco-conscious property has been specifically designed with the environment in mind and features thoughtful touches throughout, such as plush bedding made from 100% recycled materials, filtered drinking water in guestrooms minimising the need for bottled water, and aerated shower heads that reduce water usage.
On site, you’ll also find a gym overlooking the street, guest laundry, business centre, and five flexible meeting rooms with a combined meeting space of 595 square metres for up to 60 pax.
In terms of food and beverage, the all-day ground floor Italian trattoria, Mozzarella & Co serves a-la-carte and buffet breakfast, as well as artisan pizzas and pastas for lunch and dinner, accompanied with a wine list, beers and cocktails.
The jewel in the crown will undoubtedly be the highly anticipated sky-scraping rooftop bar, Bar Albert, touted to be New Zealand’s highest rooftop bar when it opens mid-June. Oozing Art Deco glamour at every turn, the stunning space on Level 38 will feature floor-to-ceiling windows and an open deck with fireplace from which to take in the sweeping city and harbour views.
Both Bar Albert and Mozzarella & Co. will offer additional space for hosting private functions.
“As one of the most highly anticipated hotel openings of the year, the launch of voco Auckland City Centre marks an exciting period of growth for the voco brand as we see an influx of travellers returning to New Zealand,” Pro-invest Hotels, area general manager, New Zealand, Fraser McKenzie said.
“A stay at voco Auckland City Centre is all about indulgent accommodation with a refreshing twist and we’re thrilled to finally be able to share the fun, unique hallmarks of this property with our guests.”
The new build property marks the voco brand’s first foray into New Zealand and closely follows the opening of voco Melbourne Central, with voco Brisbane City Centre opening next month.
