MANIAX beckons Sydney corporates to unleash their inner Viking

Marrickville has welcomed Australia's largest Viking-themed bar and axe throwing entertainment venue - and it's proving to be a hit for team building and corporate events.

Sydney’s Inner West has welcomed Australia’s largest Viking-themed bar and axe throwing entertainment venue, MANIAX, now open in Marrickville.

The 350-person venue features leather banquettes, enormous antler chandelier and fireplace, and has been decked out with all manner of Vikings style paraphernalia such as horns, shields, helmets, furs, and of course axes, to set the scene and transport you into a bygone world.

Already proving popular with the corporate events crowd, MANIAX can cater to team building events, rewards and incentives, and private functions of any style. Events are privately hosted by a team of expertly trained ‘axe throwing coaches’ and are designed to create excitement and healthy competition among colleagues in a safe and immersive environment.

Fully catered corporate packages are also available, and groups of 8 or more can feast on a made-to-order banquet of slow cooked meats, pizzas, burgers and sharing boards. As the only licensed axe-throwing venues in Australia, each MANIAX also has its own bar offering a range of craft beer, wine, cider and and Viking-inspired cocktails.

Inspired by axe-throwing adventures in Canada, Adam and wife Renee started throwing axes in their backyard in Coogee, much to their neighbours’ annoyance. Today, the business is Australia’s largest axe throwing outfit with destinations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide, with five more opening in 2022 alone.

Co-owner and director, Adam Schilling, believes the success of MANIAX has been due to the sheer glee people experience when they chuck an axe for the first time.

“MANIAX is about pure fun, and the launch of MANIAX Sydney Inner West is about creating ‘fun’ on an epic scale,” Schilling said.

“It’s our largest outfit by a country mile and shows that people are craving some light-hearted distraction and a reason to try something different with their friends, family, and colleagues.”
