The 2020 hotel openings to keep on your radar

These are the hotels to watch in 2020.

The new year is fast approaching and already 2020 is shaping up to be a year full of new venue and hotel openings, ripe for the business events market.

Here, we take a look at some of the highly anticipated new Australian hotels coming online in 2020:

Queensland

Hotel Indigo Brisbane Fortitude Valley – July 2020

Australia’s first Hotel Indigo will open its doors in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley in the second quarter of 2020. Hotel Indigo is a lifestyle boutique brand in the InterContinental Hotels Group portfolio.

Reported by Spice News in 2016, the new-build hotel will feature 140 rooms in a prime position of Brunswick Street.

New South Wales

Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour – Quarter 1, 2020

Located on the corner of Sussex and Bathurst Streets, Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour features 152 modern guest rooms and suites a short stroll from Sydney’s CBD. Announced in 2015, new-build hotel will also include a 300-square-metre ballroom, restaurant and bar spaces, a studio for up to 20 people and a rooftop pool deck.

Adina Apartment Hotel Sydney – August 2020

The Adina Apartment Hotel Sydney, located next to Australia Square, will offer 194 rooms, with a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments and studios available.

Guests will take in the lights of the city from a restaurant and bar on Level 22 while a sky lobby and reception will be on Level 21, alongside a gym and pool area.

ACT

Adina Apartment Hotel Canberra – Quarter 3, 2020.

Part of a $300 million development by Capital Property Group, Adina Apartment Hotel Canberra will feature 132 apartments each with a contemporary design.

Reported by Spice News in 2017, the hotel will occupy the lower four levels of the building, which wil primarily be used as commercial office space. The development will also include cafes, restaurants and retail outlets.

South Australia

Crowne Plaza Adelaide – Quarter 2, 2020

The opening of Crowne Plaza Adelaide marks the brand’s return to Adelaide, and it’s making a grand re-entrance. The new-build hotel is opening inside Frome Central Tower One, which will be the city’s tallest building.

The hotel will feature 326 rooms, 600 square metres of meeting space, an infinity pool, bar and restaurant, plus a 10th floor check-in experience.

Sequoia at Mount Lofty House – September 2020

Mount Lofty House’s new super-luxe lodge accommodation will welcome guests from June 2020, with an official launch date in September.

Located on the Adelaide Hills estate, $15 million luxury lodge will feature 14 contemporary guest suites with access to a private club lounge, gardens, sundeck and natural spring-fed hot pools.

Victoria

Adina Apartment Hotel Melbourne West End – June 2020

The 92-apartment Adina Apartment Hotel Melbourne West End will be part of a $350 million development, set to become the new hub of Melbourne’s redeveloping West End.

The precinct will also be home to a wellness centre, a 50-seat cinema and nine bars and restaurants.

W Melbourne – June 2020

Offering 294 spacious guestrooms, including 40 suites and an Extreme Wow Suite, W Melbourne will arrive in mid 2020 to much excitement.

Designed by award-winning SHoP Architects from New York, global design practice Woods Bagot and interior design specialists Hachem, the hotel aims to push the boundaries of hotel design. The hotel will also include more than 1200 square metres of “ultra-modern” conference and meeting space, plus an underground bar and three restaurants.

Vibe Melbourne Hotel – March 2020

Vibe Melbourne Hotel is gearing up for its early 2020 opening, when it will reveal 206 hotels rooms in a prime location on Queen Street.

The 24-storey glass-fronted property will also feature a ground floor lobby and restaurant, plus 200 square metres of conference facilities.

Adina Apartment Hotel Southbank Melbourne – June 2020

The striking Bates Smart design of the Adina Apartment Hotel Southbank Melbourne, with its curved glass curtain facade, is set to become a landmark for Melbourne’s Southbank precinct.

The 220-apartment hotel, using relatively new mass timber construction technology that will see the project attain new levels in sustainable design. On opening, the Adina Southbank Melbourne will be one of Australia’s tallest timber buildings.

The site at 55 Southbank Boulevard nestles between the CBD, vibrant St Kilda Road, and the parklands surrounding Royal Botanic Gardens.

Vibe Melbourne Hotel

Tasmania 

Vibe Hotel Hobart – May 2020

The Vibe Hotel Hobart will be located on prime position on Argyle Street, which leads down to Hobart’s historic waterfront and Salamanca Place.

The new development will incorporate retail and hospitality space on the ground floor and will have ten floors comprising 142 hotel rooms and suites, with a pool, gym, restaurant and bar and conferencing space.

The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart – September 2020

The Tasman boasts 152 luxuriously appointed guest rooms and suites with carefully restored features,  Our rooms design comprise a modern interpretation of Art Deco style expressed through an uncomplicated setting. Crowne Plaza Hobart – Quarter 1, 2020

The opening of Crowne Plaza Hobart marks the brand’s debut in Hobart. The 235-room property was orginially slated to open in 2019, but due to delays it is now slated for a 2020 opening.
