8Hotels has announced the opening of a new Sydney hotel.

Located in Pyrmont, Sydney, the new 1888 hotel is a short walk from the Darling Harbour conferencing and entertainment precinct.


The hotel is located a stone’s throw from Sydney’s Darling Harbour.


The hotel, named after the first year that Kodak launch its patent for the box and roll camera, will honour this photographic history by incorporating Instagram program into its guest offering.

This includes an Instagram-friendly walking map of the Pyrmont area, a revolving series of Instagram images in the Mac space at reception and a ‘selfie space’ for guests to snap themselves.


The property is a converted wool store that has undergone a $30 million redevelopment.

The 1888 Eatery & Bar serves continental breakfasts, shared cheese and antipasto platters, beer and wine and catering for meetings and events can be arranged through the restaurant.
