Australian Regional Tourism Convention heads to Ballarat

The regional tourism industry will come together over three days in October.

The Australian Regional Tourism (ART) Convention has announced Ballarat, Victoria as the host city for its 2020 event.

Taking place on 26-28 October 2020, the ART Convention brings together the regional tourism industry to connect, share ideas and engage in discussions around the industry’s opportunities and challenges.

Ballarat Mayor Ben Taylor said the city its looking forward to showcasing itself as a tourist and conference destination.

“Recently crowned a UNESCO Creative City, Ballarat is a leading example of how local government, business, artisans and tourism bodies are collaborating to leverage existing and emerging visitor trends,” he said.

Expected to attract representatives from local councils, regional tourism organisations, tourism businesses and government, the convention will centre around the theme of ‘building resilient and adaptive communities that thrive’.

ART chair Coralie Bell said the organsation is excited to work with the City of Ballarat this year.

“The City of Ballarat is currently undergoing a period of significant change in their approach to engaging and supporting their local visitor economy, this combined with the regional city’s rapid growth sets an ideal scene for a vibrant and stimulating convention,” she said.
