The Electric Canvas were busy being Santa’s little helpers in December with no less than four spectacular projection projects across three cities – Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.

The iconic Melbourne Town Hall in Swanston Street was transformed into a Christmas fantasyland with an enchanting 3D mapping show entitled ‘The Nights Before Christmas’.

Their most ambitious 3D mapping project to date, the team at The Electric Canvas used 3D modelling and POV techniques to create seven and a half minutes of magic, accompanied by a light-hearted soundtrack and mapped to the detailed architecture of the Swanston Street monument.

A veritable technical and artistic feat, ‘The Nights Before Christmas’ received a huge public response, with large crowds showing their appreciation after each performance. The show ran from 8:30pm to 11pm every night over a 26-day period.

For the eighth consecutive time since 2005, we decorated the Sydney Town Hall for Christmas with stunning architectural projection. The annual holiday projections by The Electric Canvas onto Sydney.

Town Hall have become one of the city’s not-to-be-missed festive events.

Despite the challenges of major restoration work to the clock tower and left façade of the building, as well as the high level of ambient light at the site, the Town Hall sparkled once again this holiday season to the delight of locals and tourists alike.

Perth’s magnificent General Post Office building was the backdrop for ‘Turning on the Christmas Lights’, which ran for ten days during the month of November. The Electric Canvas was appointed by the City of Perth to transform the GPO and Forrest Place into a Christmas wonderland, thanks to some
stunning large-format projection.

This was the first time that projection had been used in the city’s Christmas lights event, with scenes varying from giant stained glass windows, to a rich forest of native karri trees, to a pristine WA beach seen from a bird’s eye view. The projections marked the start of six weeks of Perth’s festive
celebrations.

Also in Perth, Brookfield Asset Management enlisted the supplier to create a projection show onto five of Brookfield Place’s restored heritage sites over the holiday period. The façades of the Old Perth Boys School, Old Perth Technical School, WA Trustees Building, Royal Insurance Building and Newspaper House were revealed in a different light with stunning Christmas projections running nightly for three weeks in December.
