Staging Rentals & Construction to close Sydney branch

Founder Meri Took said he's looking forward to a change of pace.

Staging Rentals & Construction will close its Sydney branch, following “a lot of consideration” from owners Meri Took and David Comer.

The staging and event production company, known for building large-scale sets and props for the opera, exhibitions and corporate events, will officially close in April 2020.

Took, who founded the business 30 years ago, said it was “heartfelt decision” to close the Sydney arm.

“Due to a range of factors, David and I have decided that now is the time for us begin the next chapter,” he said.

SRC Melbourne will continue to operate and provide full custom-construction services and rental products. Took and Comer will continue to own the business and Rod Sultana will stay in his role as branch manager.

“We would like to thank the enormous army of people who have worked at SRC Sydney over 30 years, many who have gone on to be strong ambassadors for our industry,” said Took.

“We also thank our incredible band of clients and partners, whose passion for events has kept us busy for 30 years.

“It has been quite a ride, I’m extremely proud of the work we have done and the relationships we have forged. And, we are also looking forward to a change of pace.”

Staging Rentals & Construction’s Sydney workshop will operate until 12 February and will provide rentals for events up until and including 6 March. Purchase enquiries of Sydney stock and plant equipment are to be directed to Meri Took at 02 9519 6300.
