Sydney based event caterers, Avocado Group had their flexibility and creativity skills tested when they were selected to design a menu to enhance the race day experience inside Audi’s hospitality tent at the Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour race event.
The event, which took place in late February at Mount Panorama, included an Audi hospitality tent for 150 VIP guests to watch the three day event.
The 11th annual 12 hour race shows off the best of Australia’s luxury sports cars, along with many international entries. Last year, Audi won 1st and 2nd place and again hopes for the same result this year with Craig Lowndes at the wheel.
Avocado Group were selected to design a menu for the Audi hospitality suite at the Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour event
As the hospitality suite was located right above Pit Lane, a unique challenge was set to the team at Avocado; there were no kitchen facilities and no ability to cook within the hospitality suites.
Avocado Group hired a catering truck for the event and delivered the food directly from a fully equipped commercial kitchen.
Avocado Group working inside the truck, turned commercial kitchen.
The experience allowed their chef to step up and shine while delivering restaurant quality food from the pinnacle of offsite catering. The team was further challenged as a large number of last minute requests were made such as sourcing specialised yoghurt and organic bananas; creating carbohydrate loaded meals for the racing drivers; feeding a number of local children who were given the opportunity to attend the race and tour pit lane, along with the usual timing changes and extra requirements thrown into every event.
A clever solution: The truck from the outside.
All of the additional requirements were able to be delivered, said the team at Avocado, and the client was extremely happy with the outcomes of the weekend.
