Australia’s only fleet of New York-style cabs are now available for hire.

Having a New York-themed celebration? The Victorian-based Checker Cab Company is now offering a fleet of four classic 1960s New York Checker Cabs for guest transfers.

Fleet owner John Bell said, “We have painstakingly restored these vehicles and no matter where we take them they always slow traffic and turn heads, especially when the whole fleet travels together.”

The ‘Checker’ remains one of the world’s most famous taxi vehicles, immortalised by Robert De Niro in the 1976 movie Taxi Driver. The cars feature a limo-sized rear seat, checker stripes, air conditioning, roof light and flag fall meter. All hirings include red carpet entry, a refreshment pack and old-fashioned service.
