Elizabeth Rich steps down from BECA

After 17 years at the helm, Elizabeth Rich has advised the BECA Board of her intention to retire from her role as Chief Executive on 30 June 2011.


After 17 years at the helm, Elizabeth Rich has advised the Business Events Council of Australia (BECA) Board of her intention to retire from her role as Chief Executive on 30 June 2011.

“It has been a privilege and a pleasure to work with my industry colleagues in building the profile of business events off a low base to the strong recognition it now enjoys in the tourism industry,” Rich said. “I look forward to the next generation taking up the industry challenge to further develop the potential of business events to deliver high yield returns for Australia.”

Commenting on the announcement, BECA Chairman Leigh Harry said “Elizabeth has made a remarkable contribution to the business events industry both nationally and globally over many years. The industry is significantly better understood and recognised because of her constant and passionate contribution during this period.

“There are many challenges still ahead for the industry and BECA will continue to play a key role representing all industry participants particularly with federal and state governments. On behalf of the industry I record my appreciation for Elizabeth’s achievements and wish her well for the future.”
