Business events including AMPlify, SPARC International Lighting Event, CeBIT Australia, X|Media|Lab, Mumbrella 360, EncoreLive and DigiTech 2011 are joining with Vivid Sydney this year, in celebration of Sydney’s role as a major hub for creative industries in the Asia Pacific region.
Established as the largest festival of light, music and ideas in the Southern Hemisphere, Vivid Sydney is set to light up the city from 27 May – 13 June with an array of free and ticketed public events. In addition, the festival is creating opportunities for the thousands of creative industry delegates in the city during May and June to network and collaborate.
Geoff Parmenter, CEO of Events NSW, said partnering with creative industries conferences and forums was a natural evolution for Vivid Sydney.
“Vivid is a forum for creative collaboration and recognises Sydney as a city where technology, commerce and art intersects,” he said.
“Increasingly we’re finding a large number of creative industry business events are being staged during the festival – a natural fit in terms of creativity, alignment of content and commercial opportunity.”
Each year Vivid Sydney lights up the city with installations that inspire.
For SPARC, Australia’s first major international lighting design event, the partnership with Vivid Sydney offers its delegates and members the chance to showcase lighting innovation in a high profile public arena.
“A number of our Australian and international lighting delegates will be lighting iconic historic buildings throughout The Rocks precinct, giving festival visitors the chance to see first-hand some of the amazing things that can be done with low energy, innovative lighting,” said Bryan Douglas, CEO of SPARC.
X|Media|Lab, returning for its second Vivid Sydney, embodies the creative connections encouraged by the festival, with high profile mentors for Lab participants and a business matching program between local and Chinese businesses.
“Our international delegates and mentors recognise the impact of Vivid Sydney in driving creative economies and business opportunities – Sydney in the winter is becoming the place to be for the business of creativity,” said Megan Elliot, director, X|Media|Lab.
In total, Sydney will host around 35,000 business delegates during the Vivid Sydney festival period, along with leading creative industry speakers from around the world. Vivid Sydney is a major celebration of our creative industries featuring a vibrant program of free and ticketed events around Circular Quay, The Rocks and Sydney Opera House.
Vivid Sydney is one of five signature events on the NSW Events Calendar developed by Events NSW on behalf of the NSW Government.
