Venue rendering on a scale rarely seen in Australia took place in relative secrecy last month when three levels of a Gold Coast shopping centre were turned into a massive dining venue for a corporate event.

The Oasis Shoppng Centre was converted into a giant
dining room for a specal event last month

More than 900 guests were wined and dined for three and a half hours at The Oasis Shopping Centre for a welcome dinner hosted by Mitsubishi Go Golfing Australia.

After arriving at the second level, guests were offered pre-dinner drinks and ushered to designated seating. Catering was provided by Mario’s Italian Restaurant and bars were placed in empty shop fronts on all three levels.

Entertainment consisted of a 20-piece orchestra, a magician’s show and a fashion parade, while the monorail that circumvents the shopping centre was themed with the sponsor’s logo.

The Oasis Shopping Centre marketing manager, Irene Godfrey, said the set up for the event was done within regular trading hours so as to not disturb retailers and their customers.

“We also had University and Tafe students to assist, getting important work experience needed for their degrees and studies. The event was a huge success and the shopping was back to usual for the next day’s trading,” she said.
