The mysterious hammering behind a heavily guarded and boarded exterior gave no indication as to the hysteria that would follow its unveiling. Sydney based event company, Event Emporium, had spent weeks transforming a barren retail space on Sydney’s George Street into a traffic stopping Pop Up Shop for the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy SII smart phone and Music Hub service.
The Pop Up Shop on Sydney’s busy George St, produced by Event Emporium.
While thousands of shop visitors were able to get a hands-on demonstration of the popular smartphone, the public and media went into a frenzy as each day Samsung offered 10 visitors the chance to buy a Galaxy SII for just $2 – just metres from the Apple flagship store, starting a smartphone battle of galactic proportions.
As news of the promotion spread, a mass of eager customers lined up outside the shop front keen to secure their prized smartphone – some camping out for up to four days!
Once inside the blue neon and cool industrial styled shop, visitors were offered free coffee and enjoyed tunes from the Music Hub resident DJ, whilst experiencing the phones in a fun and interactive environment.
“It’s always a pleasure to work for an innovative brand like Samsung,” Event Emporium, director, Francesca Peskops said. “The Event Emporium team worked tirelessly to deliver a unique experience in the perfect location. The results and worldwide media coverage are testament to the dedication of staff from both Event Emporium and Samsung.”
