Three event management students recently battled to style nine tablescapes for three stylists in three hours, while being videoed at a new Melbourne venue.

The inaugural 3 Interns, 3 Stylists, 3 Events, 3 Hours competition was organised by My Event Décor director, Elizabeth Hollingsworth at No 1 Events, Malvern on 27 July.

Each student fulfilled briefs for a wedding, party and a product launch by event stylists Eliska Lam (Ruffles and Bells), Hattie Cox (The Hattie and Bairn Tribe), and Kirstern Farrugia (Artmospherix) to receive YouTube footage and photography by Jackie Dixon Photography, with additional photography by Bohemian Prints.

“The competition seemed a great way to introduce them to suppliers and build their portfolio,” Ms Hollingsworth said.

“And with so many businesses wanting product cut-through through influencer events, companies must now source amazing venue décor to thrill their guests enough to share the event on social media,” said Elizabeth Hollingsworth.

Ishita Mandal, from Holmesglen institute Moorrabbin won for her tablescapes of a glamorous wedding, Melbourne Watch product launch and a pink-themed 1st birthday party, which best met stylist Ruffles and Bells’ briefs.

The students sourced decorative details for a Mad Men 40th, a one-year-old’s pink birthday, a Jumanji-themed 30th bash, Moroccan boho, glamorous, and contemporary weddings, and product launches for Exponet furniture hire’s new range, Melbourne Watch timepieces, and Helen’s Hill Estate wines.

Just some of the Melbourne suppliers included My Event Décor, Complete Function Hire, Weddings of Distinction, Cacao, Slide Productions, Mini Party People, RTR Productions, Greenevent, Di Simmons Linen Hire, The Prop Store, Exponet, Melbourne Watch and Helen’s Hill Estate.

The students included Clare Brown (William Angliss Institute), Sam de Silva (Victoria University) and Ishita Mandal.

My Event Décor helps people organising product launches, store openings, expo stands, and corporate events to source unique themed décor and props.
