Nickelodeon Australia has announced a partnership with industry entertainment company 6 Degrees Group to produce the second annual SLIMEFEST. Scheduled for two shows on 27 September at Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre. Sea World and Bratz have signed on as the first official sponsors.
Based upon the success of the inaugural event in 2012, the partnership between Nickelodeon and 6 Degrees Group will expand the 2013 shows from the stage to the showground.
Working together to produce Australia’s only kid-orientated, family friendly music festival, this year SLIMEFEST will feature live performances, games, rides, stunts, exclusive consumer product offerings as well as lots of opportunities for kids and their parents to get covered in Nick’s trademark green slime.
Performers and celebrity guests appearing will soon be announced.
Inspired by the popular Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, a one-hour version of SLIMEFEST will air exclusively on Nickelodeon in October. Footage for the special screening will be shot at both the 11:00AM and 6:00PM shows, as well as throughout the SLIMEFEST festival grounds.
Nickelodeon Australia’s general manager, Ben Richardson said, “SLIMEFEST has fast become our favourite occasion on the calendar and we’re excited to be partnering with the best in the business to create an even bigger, better and greener show than last yearâ€.
“SLIMEFEST combines huge stars with incredible stunts and heaps of slime, offering an enormous opportunity to engage audiences in a completely unique way. It’s the biggest event that we produce and last year’s concert experience was a massive success. We’re happy that we’re able to extend our offering this year, with an outdoor festival before each show to give Aussie kids and families an even greater (and slimier!) experience”.
6 Degrees Groups’s managing director, Titus Day said, “6 Degrees is thrilled to be partnering with Nickelodeon on SLIMEFEST.
“We’re currently working on delivering a star-studded line-up of talent that will offer electrifying music performances by celebs who can’t wait to immerse themselves in green slimy goodnessâ€.
The inaugural SLIMEFEST was staged at Horden Pavillon in September 2012 with live performances by Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Reece Mastin, Stan Walker, Johnny Ruffo and Justice Crew, featuring several show-stopping moments including Dare To Be Square celebrities Rove, Delta Goodrem, Lisa Wilkinson, Karl Stefanovic, Ruby Rose and Cody Simpson introducing the new pro-social campaign for positivity, inspired by the ever-optimistic SpongeBob SquarePants.
Last year’s SLIMEFEST telecast is nominated for ‘Most Outstanding Music Program or Coverage’ at this year’s 11th Annual ASTRA Awards. In Australia, Nickelodeon is seen exclusively on Foxtel.
