Melburnians are being asked to give a ‘Big Shout Out’ to a role model or mentor in their life as part of Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Youth Mentoring celebrations this November.
The ‘Big Shout Out’ event sees the construction of a 10 metre long blackboard and calls for passers-by to write a ‘shout out’ to a role model or mentor who helped shape the person they are today. The project asks, ‘Who has inspired and supported you?’
Whether it’s parents, teachers, community and business leaders or simply friends, most people have needed a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on to get where they are today.
By highlighting the powerful role mentors play in shaping stronger individuals and communities, Big Brothers Big Sisters is hoping to inspire ordinary Australians to become a mentor to a young person in need today.
The event is free and open to everyone. It will be held from 11am – 8pm, Wednesday 23rd of October at Queensbridge Square, Southbank Melbourne.
