Fashion brand ECCO created fashion history last Friday (24 Aug) as it set a new world record for the World’s Longest Catwalk at an event held in Sydney’s Darling Harbour.

Author and writer Mia Freedman hosted the chic and fashionable extravaganza where models including fashion designer Dylan Cooper took to the runway to demonstrate that ECCO shoes can go the distance in comfort and style.

Sydney’s Darling Harbour hosted the event which successfully took the title of ‘World’s Longest Catwalk’ at 2.81 km.

Crowds watched as an independent adjudicator from RecordSetter announced the impressive achievement, which beat the existing world record of 2.69km set in Turkey last year by 122 metres. The record took a total of 40 minutes to walk around Darling Harbour.

“Today’s incredible achievement has proven that ECCO shoes are both stylish and comfortable – even when walking over 2.81 kilometres,” said Wadia Alkhoury, marketing manager at ECCO. “It is a fantastic feeling to hold the record for the World’s Longest Catwalk and we give our thanks to all of those who helped us to achieve it.”

Men and women from all walks of life including fashion bloggers and competition winners took to the custom-built runway wearing key pieces from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection and ECCO’s high heel evolution – Sculptured 65 range, showcased to the Australian public for the first time at the event.

Originally due to be in-store for Autumn/Winter 2013, the range has been rush released to arrive in Australia at the end of August 2012, aligning with the European launch.
