After much excitement and royal treatment, the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 culminated in a closing ceremony, produced by experience agency GPJ Australia.
Invictus Games Foundation Patron, His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, officially closed the Invictus Games on 27 October at Qudos Bank Arena, with 500 competitors and more than 1000 of their families and friends in attendance.
GPJ Australia won the bid to produce the opening and closing ceremonies earlier this year, as reported by Spice News.
A number of musical acts performed at the closing event, including Chris Tamwoy, Marliya Choir, Birds of Tokyo, Starley, Colin Hay, Kingdom Choir and Aloe Blacc.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle both addressed the audience, commending the service men and women who took part in the week-long sporting event.
The success of the event follows on from the opening ceremony, also produced by GPJ Australia and held on the Sydney Opera House forecourt on 20 October.
GPJ Australia managing director Caleb Bush said he was personally and professionally inspired by the games.
“From the amazing feats achieved by the unconquered competitors to the diligence of our outstanding ceremonies teams and suppliers; it’s been a truly uplifting experience that I have cherished and will never forget,” he said.
Invictus Games Sydney 2018 was the fourth Invictus Games with 500 competitors from 18 nations competing in 11 medal sports watched by over 110,000 spectators and broadcast globally.
