Last Saturday, (26 February ) Dreamworld, in conjunction with Channel 10 opened its doors to over 3,000 SES volunteers and their families to say thank you for their contribution in assisting the people and businesses of Queensland affected by the recent floods.

Dreamworld and Channel 10 honored over 3,000 volunteers with an event full of music and entertainment

The ‘SES Hero Weekend’ was an entertaining family day encompassing musicians, entertainers, sports stars, politicians and celebrities who provided their time to assist in making the day one to remember for the volunteers.

Channel 10 promoted the event via a number of its programs and news broadcasts both pre and post event.

Staging, lighting and technical managment was donated by Staging Connections for this important event

Shows such as Neighbours, Video Hits, Sports Tonight, The 7pm Project, Masterchef and The Circle were all involved, along with talent from each of these programs. Channel 10 filmed activities throughout the day to include in its Saturday news broadcast and weekly programs.

Formal proceedings included speeches from Premier Anna Bligh, Minister Neil Roberts, Mayors Campbell Newman and Paul Pisasale, before the main stage was handed over to a variety of entertainers – culminating in some of Australia’s best musicians hitting the stage for a two hour ‘not to be missed’ performance.

Supporting this important event, Staging Connections donated the large performance stage, sound, lighting and technical management for the daytime and evening event. According to Russell Bennett, regional general manager of Staging Connections, when the call came through there was no question of providing support.

“We have many family, friends and colleagues who have been dramatically affected by the floods. Many of our clients have suffered major set backs to their business. We offered the support they deserve by providing technical audio visual facilities for this important event.”
