In honour of Australia’s very own wildlife princess, Australia Zoo threw Bindi Irwin one wild 11th birthday party.

Offering free admission to all children under 14, the venue opened up its ballroom offering dance lessons for guests and performances from Australian Idol’s Jessica Mauboy in the Crocoseum.

Environmental advocate Bindi Irwin with Rafael, a rescued loggerhead turtle.

The pop star expressed her appreciation for Bindi and Australia Zoo’s efforts towards wildlife conservation.

“I know that Australia Zoo is very special in giving animals a living experience as close to their natural habitat as possible,” said Mauboy. “I really admire that Bindi wants to follow her father in teaching people to protect and preserve animals.”

And Miss Irwin was just as excited to have the star attend.

“This is so exciting! To have Jessica Mauboy come to my birthday and sing in the Crocoseum is so beaut bonza!” said Bindi.

“I love having my birthday at Australia Zoo. It’s a day I get to share with everybody and say g’day!”

The event also included cake cutting, free cupcake and cookie decorating workshops run by Green’s, and a giant canvas for attendees to write their birthday wishes. Additionally a circus school taught guests to hula hoop, juggle or take on the flying trapeze.

Australia Zoo has been a favourite venue for children’s events as well as corporate family days and numerous special events.
