MCEC chefs take to Instagram to share isolation recipes

The venue's team of talented chefs are here to help you through isolation, one recipe at a time.

If self-isolation has you suddenly inspired to be the next Nigella or Jamie, rest-assured you’re not alone.

As people adjust to spending more time in their homes, a wave of new hashtags have surfaced, such as #quarantinecuisine and #isolationbaking, revealing the aspiring cooks among us.

Despite being temporarily closed, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) is getting amongst the trend, taking to Instagram to share ‘pantry clean-out’ recipes from its team of chefs who are currently cooking at home.

The first recipe is homemade gnocchi from MCEC sous chef Jessica Cabral, and can be found on MCEC’s Instagram page and stories.

Here’s a sneak peek:

If MCEC’s recipes have you all geared up to expand your kitchen repertoire, there’s loads of inspiring chefs turning to Instagram while in isolation.

Dan Hong, executive chef at four Merivale venues including Mr Wong and Ms.G’s, is sharing his secret recipes for delicious dishes like crispy pan-fried gyoza, prawn toast and fried chicken. Yum.

Everyone’s favourite Brit, Jamie Oliver, is serving up easy recipes and cute videos of his kids to keep us all entertained.

Justine Schofield, Matt Moran and Neil Perry are also ones to watch.
