The campaign positions the city as a destination that “ticks all the boxes”, particularly on the back of the 2023 opening of Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre, which features 10,000 square metres of space for hosting New Zealand and international events.
“We are excited to continue the momentum of Australian conferences choosing Wellington,” says Business Events Wellington manager Irette Ferreira.
“We’ve seen a significant step-change in the number and size of events from Australia, and the city is delivering.”
A walkable city that is home to national government, research institutes, universities and central agencies, Wellington boasts more than 50 direct return flights from Australia each week, as well as more than 4000 hotel rooms.
“We are committed to supporting Australian clients in hosting successful conferences here,” says Ferreira.
“Wellington offers something unique and a fresh perspective for delegates – it is just a short flight away from Australia.”
This week, Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre hosted more than 800 delegates for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists’ Annual Scientific Meeting, the largest Australian conference held at the venue to date.
