Just when we thought we couldn’t hold on any longer waiting for W Sydney to finally open its doors…the hotly anticipated hotel has offered us a little sneak peek into its glam new meeting and events space.
Located on Level Five, the design-driven hotel’s eight versatile event spaces are set to raise the bar with 1,300 square metres of combined events space, the latest in design and technology, and unique design details throughout.
At nearly 600 square metres, the double-storeyd Great Room connects the interior with the hotel’s exterior, from tonal marine-coloured walls to custom carpets and bespoke lighting fixtures inspired by Darling Harbour’s famous fireworks displays, while its floor-to-ceiling windows afford sweeping views of Darling Harbour and the cityscape.
Featuring cutting-edge technology, Great Room will have the latest generation LED wall displays that can be configured as one enormous single wall, measuring 14 metres wide and four metres high, or be split into two separate screens for smaller events. It boasts Australia’s first installation of projection mapping for individual banquet tables, and state-of-the-art LEDs to ensure crisp stunning images.
Managing the release of the new space, W Sydney director of sales and marketing Roxanne Markvina said the W concept informs every element of the business and meeting space.
“We are excited to share these new event spaces with their bold, creative W spirit.Design is at the forefront of everything that we do at W Sydney, and our exceptional light-filled spaces with their state-of-the-art technology will without doubt take Sydney’s conferences and events to the next level, Markovina said.
Expected to open in November, W Sydney will be the largest W Hotel in the world, and the third W Hotel in Australia, joining sister properties W Brisbane and W Melbourne. It will offer 585 rooms and suites, a two-storey rooftop bar, AWAY Spa, FIT gym, all-day dining restaurant, and on Level 29, the signature WET Deck with heated infinity pool overlooking Darling Harbour.
