Pay What You Like: AV1 initiative supporting First Nations youth

Audio-visual production company AV1 has announced the return of its Pay What You Like initiative in January 2025.

The company’s customers can nominate how much they pay for AV equipment for events in January 2025, with AV1 donating 20 per cent to First Nations drop-in centre Redfern Youth Connect.

AV1 is the in-house provider of audio-visual services at Museum of Contemporary Art Australia – host venue for Events Uncovered presented by Spice in July 2024 – and for the first time it is extending its Pay What You Like initiative to event planners booking spaces at the iconic Sydney Harbour venue.

“Thanks to our customers who booked events with us in January 2024, we raised $10,340 for Redfern Youth Connect,” says AV1 managing director Nigel Mintern.

“This contribution has made the world of difference to Redfern Youth Direct, whose services rely on community generosity to keep its doors open.”

Redfern Youth Connect supports local Aboriginal youth, providing resources for them to become successful leaders in their communities.

“Our customers’ support makes a real difference, and we’re grateful each year for the opportunity to give back to the community,” says Mintern.

“We’ve upped our fundraising goal for 2025 and we’re putting this offer out to market earlier to allow event planners more time to look ahead to January events.

“If you have budget for a kick-off event for the year and want to support a great cause and start the year on a high, let’s work together to support our local community.”
