Adelaide’s National Wine Centre of Australia has appointed seasoned international business and hospitality professional Simon Burgess as its new general manager.
Burgess joins the National Wine Centre after 10 years at the Adelaide Convention Centre where he was General Manager for five years. He brings more than 25 years’ experience in sales, marketing and management of hotels, destinations and event venues, with extensive experience in international markets.
In his new role, Burgess will help to build the centre’s reputation as a ‘must see’ wine attraction and a leading venue for wine experiences, conferences and events.
“The National Wine Centre is a great asset to the national wine industry and wine regions, and I’m looking forward to further building its value,” Burgess said.
“A focus for us in coming years will be to secure increased numbers of conferences and events that bring more visitors to South Australia to spend in our city and regions.
“Despite the challenges of COVID-19, the connections of the NWC to Lot Fourteen, the University of Adelaide, the investment in new hotel infrastructure and continued development in the city’s East End makes it an attractive business events destination moving forward.”
