The events industry association will celebrate its 50th year in 2025, and given the organisation was formed in Sydney half a century ago, it is fitting the annual conference returns to the Harbour City.
“As the birthplace of MEA, Sydney holds a special place in our history,” says MEA board director Jess Glass.
“It feels fitting to return home for the momentous occasion of our 50th anniversary.
“This event will not only commemorate the past five decades of excellence in Australia’s events industry but look forward to what lies ahead in this dynamic and ever-evolving field.”
The date for the 2025 MEA Conference is still to be set, but it will bring together industry leaders, innovators and professionals from across the events sector to meet, share insights and celebrate progress the industry has made since MEA was founded in 1975.
MEA has launched a tender process for the conference venue and a professional conference organiser (PCO) for the next two years.
The organisation is aiming to return the MEA Conference to a regional venue in 2026.
“During the coming months, we’ll be sharing more details about what you can expect from this golden anniversary conference, including speakers, hands-on workshops and a few surprises that will make this a conference to remember,” says Glass.
“We can’t wait to reveal all the elements that will make 2025 a year of celebration, connection and learning for everyone involved.
“As chair of the Conference Committee, I am honoured and excited to lead the planning for such a significant event.
“We look forward to welcoming you all to Sydney in 2025 and celebrating this historic occasion together.”
