MEA seeking feedback on its future

Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) is seeking feedback on the future of the events industry association, with amalgamation on the agenda.

Having just announced the 2025 MEA Conference will be held in Sydney in the association’s 50th year, MEA chair Vanessa Green has revealed details about a survey being distributed to bring into focus its path forward, and whether there is members’ appetite for amalgamation with Australian Business Events Association (ABEA).

MEA is currently undergoing a period of change, and the association believes its members’ insight is crucial to shaping its future.

“The MEA board is committed to understanding what our members and the wider events community truly need from an industry association,” Green tells Spice.

“This survey gives MEA and industry members the platform to tell us how we can better serve and support you, whether you’re an event organiser, service provider, part of a large corporation or a SME.

“Our goal is to lead, empower and connect, and it’s important we’re understanding and meeting the expectations of all those we represent.

“As part of this, we’re also listening to ongoing discussions around the potential amalgamation of associations, including whether MEA should integrate with ABEA.

“Now is your chance to help shape the future of our industry’s representation; do we remain as we are, or is there a desire for greater unity?”
