MCEC unveils fresh new menu

The inspired new menu brings the colours and flavours of Victoria’s finest seasonal produce to the forefront.

Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) has unveiled its fresh new menus for the new year, bringing the colours and flavours of Victoria’s finest seasonal produce to the forefront.

Taking a bold and inventive approach, the menu is inspired by the convention centre’s food philosophy, which showcases the flavours of Melbourne’s distinct character and culture.

“Drawing influence from the world around us and seeing what customers are placing increased importance on really helps us to identify what sort of food we might like to create,” MCEC executive chef Peter Haycroft said.

From grab-and-go gourmet to sophisticated dining, the refreshed menu features a diverse range of options including plant-based and gluten friendly options to cater to all tastes and dietary requirements.

“Colour and flavour are of high importance as always, but sustainability and a focus on vegetarian, vegan and gluten friendly options has been really important in the development of this menu.”

Complimenting the new menu, there is also a new-look beverage selection, featuring house-made cocktails using spirits from Victorian distilleries and Seltzers from Melbourne-based Moon Dog Craft Brewery.

Additionally, MCEC has maintained its sustainable options such as Ecoboxes and its 100-Mile Menu, a three-course plated menu where all main ingredients are sourced from local farms and markets within 100 miles (161 kilometres) of the centre, supporting Victorian food producers while reducing the carbon footprint.
