Renowned Australian chef Luke Mangan will helm the restaurant and bar offering at the new Kimpton Sydney hotel when it opens later this year.
The new luxury boutique hotel is the first opening under IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Kimpton brand in Australia and will be located at the site of the former Primus Hotel on Sydney’s Pitt Street.
The hotel is currently undergoing a careful refurbishment to bring to life Kimpton’s signature boutique luxury look and feel while preserving the original architecture and design of the heritage-listed 1930s Art Deco building.
Kimpton Sydney’s restaurants and bars will include Luke’s Kitchen restaurant, an elegant 1930s-style cocktail bar, an intimate wine cellar with tasting experiences, a rooftop bar and swimming pool, and a café.
Seeing it as the perfect opportunity to re-invigorate his namesake restaurant, chef Luke Mangan said he was drawn to Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants for its bespoke offering to guests coupled with heartfelt service.
“It’s also a great opportunity to create a range of innovative culinary experiences that are built on Kimpton’s legacy of locally loved restaurants,” Mangan said.
“The location of Kimpton Sydney is superb with its blend of nightlife from neighbouring Chinatown and Darlinghurst and independent spirit from the nearby Surry Hills, all brought to life in this incredible building that’s connected to Sydney’s heritage.”
