IHG’s highly anticipated resort-inspired hotel, InterContinental Sorrento Mornington Peninsula, has opened in the popular seaside destination in Victoria, joining the hospitality group’s Luxury and Lifestyle Collection.
Housed within the 1875 heritage building The Continental, the hotel’s design has been inspired by the Victorian and Art Deco eras of the local area to evoke a coastal retreat feel.
It features 108 rooms and suites within the original limestone building and in a newly built wing which features private outdoor terraces, with penthouses opening later this year. The hotel’s spa, Aurora Spa and Bathhouse will also open later this year within a thermal bathhouse and wellness centre.
The property also offers a 24-hour Fitness Centre, an expansive pool deck exclusively for guests, a beer garden, front bar, speakeasy venue and two restaurants, including seafood joint Audrey’s by Melbourne chef Scott Pickett.
Inspired by the Victorian and Art Deco eras of the local area, the hotel has been carefully restored and designed to evoke a coastal retreat feel.
There are four meeting rooms available and the restored Grand Ballroom can cater for events for up to 150 guests.
“Sorrento’s heritage as a place to escape to has been reimagined with a serious dash of glamour and an array of ways to unwind, celebrate and retreat, but we can’t wait to welcome our guests from both near and far with our service,” InterContinental Sorrento Mornington Peninsula general manager Adam McDonald said.
“InterContinental is a much-loved brand across the globe, renowned for its worldly know-how and service style – we’re looking forward to sharing a truly international hotel in this very special part of the world.”
