McGrath Annual Awards is an annual gala dinner style event that celebrates McGrath Real Estate Agents’ top performers.
The 2022 event was a particularly special one as it also celebrated the company’s 30th birthday, welcoming 800 guests at the Hordern Pavilion at Sydney’s Fox Studios in August 2022.
Divine Events was tasked with the styling of this spectacular event.
How was your company involved in the event?
An event like no other, McGrath’s annual awards show needed to be spectacular. Divine Events head stylist Rebekah Cartwright was tasked from the very beginning to work collaboratively with the branding, design, and production teams to bring their vision to life. As this was the first time the event was held at the Hordern Pavilion the decision was made to steer away from the opulent black-tie aesthetic of previous years and instead create a more modern, dark, edgier mood to the space.
A dark palette was set throughout the space using blacks, gun metals and charcoals as a base, contrasted with deep emeralds and warm glowing lights. The long kings tables set in a chevron shape with angled aisles leading up to a diamond shaped stage were styled with black and charcoal marle linen topped with long and low arrangements of assorted fresh foliage, creating dynamic shapes and shadows under AV1’s impressive laser light show.
The dark and angular venue was complimented throughout the rest of the space by bringing in cocktail décor, two feature bars and four large feature seating charts with strong lines and angles which we contrasted with the organic shapes of fresh green foliage, large potted plants and a dramatically draped chiffon photo backdrop all of which was enhanced with the warm subtle glow of clustered candles and LED mega fairy lights.
What were the highlights of the event?
A full-scale orchestral production of alternative dance and electronic anthems including ‘Right Here Right Now’ by Fat Boy Slim, You Don’t Know Me by Armand Van Helden, and Sandstorm by Darude”, conducted by Funkified Entertainment performed on the diamond shaped stage in front of the large white feature McGrath letters, dressed with soft clouds of white babies breath, which appeared as though to come to life as they reflected AV1’s laser lights.
The key element of the sensory experience was the room design, complimenting Divine Events deep and organic design with AV1’s intense, brightly coloured lighting, creating harmony between the physical and on-screen experience.
What was the feedback like from guests and clients?
The night received a fantastic response from guests and press alike!
“It was undoubtedly one of our greatest achievements to date. It was an out of the box experience – one that changed the way we perceive events, performances and audiences, something truly unforgettable,” Rebekah said.
