Canberra Convention Bureau appoints new director of business development

Having previously worked at the Bureau, Louise Dalglish Smith returns after nearly 18 years.

Canberra Convention Bureau (CCB) has announced the appointment of Louise Dalglish Smith as its new Canberra-based director of business development, replacing Brendon Prout who has retired after 12 years at the Bureau.

Having previously worked at CCB, Dalglish Smith returns after nearly 18 years. She first joined the Bureau having just moved to Canberra and following a stint with the Tasmanian Convention Bureau in Sydney.

In addition, Dalglish Smith has worked in hotels and resorts in Canada, UK and Australia and also has experience in corporate, NFP and membership organisations, bringing broad experience to her new role.

“We’re delighted that Louise is bringing her experience in hotels, corporate, and associations to our Canberra based team, she is well suited to accessing the significant network of Canberra thought leaders and the platform that business events delivers for their communities,” CCB head of sales, Kimberley Wood, said.

As director of business development, Daglish Smith will be looking after the ACT market, working with Canberra-based associations and universities, and meeting with clients in the coming months.

“Canberra has incredible stories to tell about how our capital intersects with the knowledge and influence communities and I look forward to encouraging their networks to choose Canberra and the incredible business events product we have here,” Dalglish Smith said.

“Canberra is a great place to call home, and combined with the vibrancy of our city, Canberra is the place to have your industry voice heard.”

When not promoting Canberra, Dalglish Smith enjoys reformer Pilates, wrangling her dogs on the reserve and trying to parent two teenagers.
