With high octane racing events, regional festivals, historic celebrations and fun for the whole family, Central Queensland has a superb line of up events planned throughout 2010. Here are some of the highlights:
March kicks off with the ride of a lifetime at the annual Capella Camel Races. Saddle up on March 27 for live music, jumping castles, dodgem cars, fashion competitions, fireworks and the sheer thrill of watching Queenslands best amateur camel riders in action.
Hot on its heels is the Gladstone Harbour Festival. The week-long celebration (March 28-April 4) sails into town on March 28 with free entertainment, live music, street parades, fireworks galore and the spectacle of the yachts arriving after completing the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht race.
Seventeen Seventy celebrates the landing of James Cook with The Captain Cook 1770 Festival on May 20-23. This years line up includes an art exhibition, comedy show, short film night, battle of the bands competition, children and youth art workshops, street parade, live music, food and market stalls and a re-enactment of Cooks landing.
In July, its time to rev your engines and grab yourself a front-row seat for the highest-octane event to be staged in Central Queensland MotorMania CQ. The first ever MotorMania CQ will take place throughout the Rockhampton, Gladstone and the Capricorn Coast regions on July 16-25 with a massive ten-day program of adrenaline pumping motorsport action. More than 15 Central Queensland motorsport clubs will come together to stage competitions and displays including motocross, drags, the Rocky Street Sprint, burnout competitions, rallying, off-roads, speedway, karting and youth driver training.
Fasten your seatbelts for another high octane event, this time on the water, with Queenslands biggest power boat race spectacular, the Wide Bay Australia Bundy Thunder cruising into Bundaberg on November 5-7. The two day event will be jammed packed with adrenalin pumping boat racing, water and boat displays and fun for the whole family.
