Thousands of delegates including key Australian sellers and buyers from more than 30 countries will descend on Perth next year for the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE19).
The deal was secured by the WA State Government through Tourism Western Australia.
“We’ve seen Perth, Australia’s sunniest capital city, transform into one of the nation’s most interesting destinations with a vibrant city life surrounded by nature, and ATE19 will be our time to really shine for an international audience,” said WA Tourism Minister Paul Papalia.
“We want Perth to be one of the most desirable leisure and business event destinations in the world, and ATE19 gives us an extraordinary opportunity to position ourselves as Australia’s western gateway.”
The event will also give international travel buyers and media, the opportunity to experience all the changes that have happened around Perth and Western Australia first-hand through pre and post-event familiarisations at a variety of destinations around Perth and regional WA.
ATE18 is currently underway in Adelaide but will wrap up tonight (19 April 2018).
“The economic impact of ATE is significant and will directly help to boost Australia’s inbound tourism sector,” said Tourism Australia Managing Director John O’Sullivan in Adelaide this week.
“During the week of the event, Adelaide and South Australia can expect an immediate $10 million boost to the local economy,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
“Longer term, the relationships and business negotiated at ATE help to secure future travel to Australia, assisting the Australian tourism industry to reach its Tourism 2020 goal of growing overnight expenditure to more than $115 billion annually by the end of the decade.”
ATE19 will take place at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 8 to 12, 2019.
