Famil Alert: Alice Stampede

Want to explore the Australian outback and learn more about the business offerings available in Alice Springs? Now's your chance.

The renowned Alice Stampede mega-familiarisation event, a joint initiative of the Alice Springs Convention Centre and the Northern Territory Convention Bureau (NTCB), will be staged in the quintessential outback town of Alice Springs from 21 – 24 September.

Qualified conference and event planners are encouraged to register their interest in joining this mega-familiarisation program.  They will view world-class facilities, venues and accommodation on offer in The Alice, as well as experience a fantastic NT event spectacle.

A highlight for 2017 will be a first-hand experience of Parrtjima – a Festival in Light, which is being staged in Alice Springs from 22 September till 1 October.  It is the second year that this authentic Indigenous light festival will be held – organisers proudly say that the event showcases the oldest continuous culture on earth via the very latest in lighting technology. It is Australia’s biggest light show installation, with more than 2.5 kilometres of the spectacular MacDonnell Ranges providing a 300 million year old natural canvas. For the participating planners, this event will showcase how the NT’s extensive calendar of special events can be integrated into a Business Event, often with a ‘uniquely NT’ cultural or activity focus.

Now in its sixth year, Alice Stampede is supported by a wide range of Alice Springs suppliers.  The famil program is designed to reveal the quirky, cultural and business aspects of Alice Springs, whilst showcasing a broad range of activities which are unique to this region.   Participants will experience the region’s natural wonders, learn about the history of Alice Springs and its innovative organisations and visit interesting off-site dinner venues.

Business sessions held during Stampede will highlight the depth of extraordinary local speakers, Alice expertise and industry strengths which often provide appealing linkages to attract conferences to the region.

Nicole Jervis from the NT Convention Bureau said “We’re looking forward to again co-hosting this excellent event with the Alice Springs Convention Centre. We’re very confident that participants on Alice Stampede 2017 will return to their offices with a swag of brilliant new ideas, strong motivation to bring future events to Alice Springs and wonderful NT memories to last a lifetime.”
