Over 200 guests were given a pre-opening tour of the new resort on Monday night.
Among the guests were operators of the major Byron festivals including Splendour in the Grass, BluesFest, the Falls Festival and Byron Bay Writers Festival (which will continue to be held at Elements of Byron) and local identities including Rusty Miller and Byron’s dancing man Tommy Franklin.
Guests were treated to the new Veuve Clicquot Rich upon arrival. As they moved into the ‘heart of the bay’ beachfront precinct they enjoyed six styles from the oyster bar and a range of treats from executive chef Justin Dingle-Garciyya and his team, including crab-stuffed doughnuts, black garlic, caviar and cured salmon. This was followed by more substantial fare around the infinity lagoon pool including crispy pork belly, seared scallops, rare tuna, nori, chipotle aioli and pulled lamb, sour dough, candied apple. Robert Oatley wines flowed and local brews were dispensed from Stone and Wood’s retro caravan named Clyde. To conclude the dining experience, banana pistachio flat breads accompanied by vanilla bean labneh were handed around.
There were tours of the resort, a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony, horses, a helicopter, drummers and fire twirlers, musicians all evening and to end the night, a DJ with dancing aplenty.
“It is our greatest wish to contribute positively to the Byron tourism experience so this was our chance to kick up our heels with our friends, business partners and local supporters before we open to the public on Monday. We were all very moved to receive such positive feedback,” said Elements of Byron owner Peggy Flannery.
Elements of Byron Resort is part of AccorHotels’ boutique MGallery Collection of memorable hotels.
Chief operating officer AccorHotels Pacific, Simon McGrath, said “We congratulate the owners and hotel team on such an exceptional world-class project that will positively contribute to the Byron experience for travellers and wider tourism economy. We’re excited to welcome this latest addition to our boutique MGallery Collection of hotels which is set to delight guests with its harmonious design and native landscape ecologies.”
When did the pre-opening tour take place – it says on Feb 1st but that’s next week – I have 55 buyers waiting to see the hotel and they will be dissappointed if they missed out!
