Edible Fashion Collection opens at Westfield Sydney

Fashionistas and food lovers alike were able to feast their eyes on the ultimate fusion of food and fashion at Westfield Sydney's inaugural Edible Fashion Collection, which opened to the public last Thursday


Fashionistas and food lovers alike were able to feast their eyes on the ultimate fusion of food and fashion at Westfield Sydney’s inaugural Edible Fashion Collection, which opened to the public last Thursday (5 July)

This bespoke collection of edible garments showcases the talents of Westfield Sydney’s world-class chefs and designers and is open free to the public for one week only from 5–12 July 2012.


The pop-up exhibition curated and styled by leading events specialist, David Grant, features five designer garments created from food

Located on Australian Designer Gallery Level Four, Westfield Sydney, the pop-up exhibition curated and styled by leading events specialist, David Grant, features five designer garments created from food. Each piece of edible fashion is a result of weeks of collaboration between the
chefs and designers then brought to life by Grant.

Westfield Sydney’s Edible Fashion Collection was unveiled last night at Westfield Sydney and is now open free to the public for one week only. Westfield regional manager, Central Sydney.


The exhibition is open to the public until July 12 at Westfield Sydney.

Rachele Godridge said Edible Fashion was one of the most exciting and unique collaborations Westfield Sydney had been involved in.
“This exhibition brings to life the true essence of Westfield Sydney’s world-class fashion and food.

This exhibition must be seen to be believed. We welcome you to visit Westfield Sydney before 12 July to experience them for yourself,” Godridge said.

The exhibition included installations such as “Neon Italia” Ginger & Smart with Alessandro Pavoni (Spiedo Restaurant and Bar) which consists of a
Calico dress with a risoni pasta crust, glazed with neon green paint and garnished with silver detail.


The Dinner suit, a pairing of M.J. Bale and Justin North consisting of a charcoal black wool suit encrusted with black peppercorns, trimmed with nigella seeds then layered onto a sea-salt shirt.


‘A Galan of Shells’ which sees Arthur Galan with chef John Susman (Cloudy Bay Fish Co.) and involves a hand-sewn vest of Kinkawooka mussels and Cloudy Bay clam shells, set atop a silk slouch blouse, finished with nori-seaweed pants.

Other designer/ chef pairs include Leona Edmiston with David Tsirekas (Xanthi), One Teaspoon with Amy Chanta (Chat Thai); M.J. Bale with Justin North (Quarter Twenty One and Bécasse).
