Fresh from more than doubling its scheduled flights into Australia, China Southern Airlines is now preparing to operate an extensive programme of charter flights from China.

China Southern is operating a number of new
charter flights to Australia and New Zealand

On Thursday this week, the airline will operate the first of eight charters on behalf of the international Amway organisation, flying incentive groups from throughout China into Sydney.

In coming weeks, China Southern also plans to operate a series of leisure charters from China into Cairns and Adelaide, as well as to Auckland, New Zealand.

“Australia has become major destination for holiday and business travellers from China,” said Henry He, Regional Manager Australia and New Zealand for China Southern Airlines.

“With its popularity growing in China, Australia has also become a major destination for China Southern Airlines, with our scheduled services increasing from 10 to 24 per week late in 2010.

“Our charter flights during coming weeks and months are additional, and provide even more evidence of the continuing growth of the inbound travel market from China, and the growing role of China Southern Airlines in expanding that market.”

The eight Amway charters, from Guangzhou, China, into Sydney, will be operated with 257-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft, with passengers connecting to the flights from throughout China.

They will arrive in Sydney over a two week period, from 12 – 26 January, while more details of other charters will be announced in coming weeks.

China Southern Airlines is the largest and fastest growing carrier in China, and a key member of the global SkyTeam Airline Alliance.

The carrier’s scheduled operations include two daily flights from Sydney to Guangzhou, daily flights from Melbourne to Guangzhou and three weekly services from Brisbane to Guangzhou.

All flights are operated with Airbus A330 aircraft, connecting in Guangzhou with onward flights throughout China and beyond to destinations across Asia and in the Middle East, Europe, Africa and other markets.
