Global hotel group Accor is inviting Starbucks employees who have been made redundant to submit their CVs for employment as the demand for experienced hospitality workers grows.

Accor has accommodation properties in many locations where Starbucks stores are set to close, and is in need of staff for its restaurants and function departments. Accor brands include Sofitel, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure, all seasons and Ibis.

Accor vice president – Australia, Simon McGrath, said many of the Starbucks employees had built solid careers with the company and their levels of training and operational skills would make them attractive potential employees.

“Experienced and well trained hospitality staff are the key to our industry. And with Accor’s current and future growth plans, we are always looking for qualified staff to help continue our growth momentum,” McGrath said.

“There is always pressure in our industry to attract and retain skilled hospitality workers, and while the loss of jobs at Starbucks is regrettable, we will hopefully be able to provide alternative employment opportunities for at least some of the displaced workers.”

Accor’s human resources team can be contacted at careers.au@accor.com or interested applicants can click here.
