Echo Entertainment Group has appointed Greg Hawkins as the new managing director of The Star.
Acting Echo managing director and chief executive Matt Bekier said, “I am delighted Greg will be joining Echo as managing director of The Star.
“Greg brings a wealth of local and regional gaming and entertainment experience that will be invaluable in delivering on the very large growth opportunity in front of us in Sydney.”
Hawkins has 20 years of experience in gaming across Australia, Asia and New Zealand. In addition to his time in the top role at Crown from 2011 to 2013, he spent five years in Asia – first as chief executive of Altira in Macau, then as president of City of Dreams. He will take up the position in September.
Hawkins replaces Frederic Luvisutto who left The Star in January to pursue a new career opportunity overseas.
Hawkins’ experience is expected to help The Star capitalise on the booming Asian VIP and premium mass market.
