Australia’s first AC Hotel by Marriott to open in Melbourne

Just a stone's throw from MCEC, the new hotel will feature functional rooms and suites and 576 sqm of meeting space.

Marriott International’s design-driven brand, AC Hotels by Marriott, will make its Australian debut with the opening of AC Hotel by Marriott Melbourne Southbank this April.

Conveniently located between South Melbourne and the arts and cultural Southbank precinct, the hotel is just a three-minute walk from the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC).

The hotel blends contemporary design inspired by the urban locale it inhabits and the AC Hotel brand’s European heritage to feature an elegant yet bold look and feel within its jewel-shaped design.

“Working in collaboration with leading architecture and design firm, DKO, we have brought to life the core elements of the AC design philosophy – every detail of the experience is meticulously over-thought to create a seamless stay,” AC Hotel by Marriott Melbourne Southbank general manager Harry Singh said.

The hotel offers 205 rooms and suites which have been designed with functionality in mind, featuring a sleek design and views across the city skyline. Guests will be welcomed with a modern foyer and elevated check-in lounge, with plenty of spaces throughout for work and relaxation.

Leisure facilities include an outdoor infinity pool spanning the width of the building, a 24-hour fitness centre and food and beverage outlets including the AC Lounge, which will double as a co-working space by day and a lively social hub by night.

Its Level 6 offers 576 square metres of meeting space, with floor-to-ceiling windows that open up to an expansive wrap-around terrace with access to the infinity pool and bar deck. The outdoor terrace can also serve as a pre-function space, accommodating up to 200 guests cocktail.

“The AC brand is synonymous with sophisticated design with purpose, so guests have everything they need and nothing they don’t. We’ve orchestrated the entire hotel experience – our approach to every space is optimal comfort and utility through to modern décor, with open layouts offering functional beauty without distraction.”
