Tourism Australia Board announces new members

The new members bring extensive experience to the Board as the organisation continues to drive international visitors back to Australia.

Tourism Australia Board has welcomed three new members, who will work to support the organisation’s efforts in boosting demand and attracting international travellers, including through the $125 million Come and Say G’day campaign in key global markets.

Georgina Richters brings her board experience in Queensland’s arts and cultural sectors, and her role as Deputy Chair of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Legacy Committee. As a Luritja woman, with 20 years working in Indigenous affairs at national, state, local, and community levels, she will bring a valuable Indigenous perspective to the Board.

Ian Horne brings decades of experience in hospitality, events, accommodation, and venue management, most recently as chief executive officer of the South Australian Branch of the Australian Hotels Association. His work on tourism and events sector Boards, including the South Australian Tourism Commission, will provide a contemporary view of the industry’s needs.

Linda Wayman brings a wealth of expertise in corporate governance as the Principal of Wayman Advisory, the Chair of Carers WA, and as a former Board member of both Tourism WA and VenuesWest. This, alongside her experience in media, marketing and tourism, makes her well-placed to support the Board’s objectives.

They replace departing Board members, Bradley Woods, Alexandra Burt and Katie Page who Tourism Australia chairman Michael Issenberg acknowledged for their service and contributions to Tourism Australia during a challenging time for the visitor economy.

“Bradley, Alex and Katie were part of a team that drove a broad range of initiatives, from a domestic campaign, to  industry support measures,  and the development and launch of a new international brand campaign,” Issenberg said.

“I know I speak on behalf of the Tourism Australia team, and the tourism industry across the country, in thanking them for their dedication, expert advice and support during their tenures.

“There is still a big job ahead for Tourism Australia, and I look forward to the new board members joining us. Georgina, Ian and Linda all bring deep experience and fresh perspectives, as we continue to drive international tourism demand back to Australia.”
