Gold Coast wins bid to host Amway Taiwan incentive

The destination beat competition from Canada, Hawaii and Tokyo to secure the event.

The Gold Coast is gearing up to host the Amway Taiwan 2019 Leadership Seminar in November, welcoming more than 950 delegates from the world’s largest direct selling company.

The city was chosen over other international destinations including Canada, Hawaii and Tokyo to host the five-day program to reward and motivate distributors and company representatives.

The bid was a collaborative effort secured by Destination Gold Coast in partnership with Tourism Australia supported by the Business Events Bid Fund Program and Tourism and Events Queensland’s Business Events Acquisition and Leveraging Fund.

Destination Gold Coast CEO Annaliese Battista said the Amway event is expected to inject $2.8 million into the Gold Coast economy.

“We are delighted to have secured this important incentive and offer our support to Amway Taiwan who will no doubt deliver an inspiring and motivating itinerary as part of their robust distributor reward program,” she said.

“The Gold Coast offers business event travellers exceptionally diverse tourism experiences and high-quality venues in an enviable globally-renowned destination.”

The bid win follows the 6000-delegate-strong Amway China Leadership Seminar that was successfully hosted in Cairns.

Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones said securing another Amway business event was a coup for Queensland.

“Winning the bid to secure a second Amway event for Queensland above other international competitors demonstrates the strength of our tourism offering and the importance of business events to Queensland’s tourism economy,” she said.
