Work begins on new events centre at Melbourne & Olympic Parks

Bookings are now open for 2022 events.

Demolition works have begun at Melbourne & Olympic Parks (M&OP) to make way for a brand new conference and events centre.

Marking the final phase of the precinct’s $972 million redevelopment, the centre is scheduled for completion by late 2021, with event bookings now open for 2022.

The venue will include a 2000-square-metre pillarless ballroom, 800-square-metre pre-function area, 250-seat auditorium and an abundance of breakout rooms and outdoor terraces.

The $271.5 million stage three redevelopment will also include a 5000-seat show court arena, production kitchen and central terrace area linking the new conference and events centre to existing venues, including Rod Laver Arena.

“The new conference and events centre is set to bolster our already award-winning events capabilities – and will complement the newly opened expansion of the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre,” said M&OP general manager, premier events and experiences Lara Burnes.
