Wine accolade for ICC Sydney

International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) has been honoured at the 2024 NSW Sommelier’s Wine List Awards for its curation of premium local wines.

The venue was awarded the gong in the category, “2024 Best NSW Wine List by a Caterer or in a Functions Venue”.

Recently presented at NSW Parliament House, the accolade reflects ICC Sydney’s support of the state’s wine industry through its serving of 100 per cent local NSW wines across the venue, which is managed by ASM Global.

The accolade also recognises the expertise of ICC Sydney’s food and beverage manager, sommelier William Wilson.

Since opening in December 2016, ICC Sydney has served more than 400,000 bottles of local wine at events – directing more than $65 million towards NSW food and wine producers.

ICC Sydney had $13 million in direct expenditure with NSW food and beverage suppliers in the 2023-2024 financial year.

Wilson has been instrumental in establishing the venue’s NSW wine list, alongside Geoff Donaghy, ICC Sydney’s CEO and group director – convention centres, ASM Global (APAC), and ICC Sydney’s director of culinary Services, Lynell Peck.

“ICC Sydney takes pride in celebrating the finest produce of our state,” says Donaghy.

“By sourcing our wine through local supply chains, we extend our impact to benefit regional NSW communities.

“We are honoured to present our 100 per cent NSW wine list to our delegates on a global stage, showcasing the very best our state has to offer.”

Wilson says he is proud to celebrate the local NSW wine industry across ICC Sydney’s premier venues.

“We are proud to be a winner in the 2024 NSW Sommelier’s Wine List Awards, among 43 finalists, including restaurants, bars and clubs of scale across NSW, who showcase wonderful wine lists,” he says.

“Whether our guests are attending a gala dinner or seeing a concert at our theatres, they can be assured to taste the finest drops sourced from around NSW.”
