Perth Zoo has appointed Compass Group as the commercial operator for its new cafe precinct and function centre with capacity for 800 guests.
The group’s Restaurant Associates will operate the new spaces which include boardrooms and large centres for more formal gatherings.
Venues will also have the capacity for dine-in and takeaway options as well as a coffee and wine bar.
The centrepiece of the development is the new function and events centre The Maali – the Noongar word for “black swan” – which will provide the setting for corporate events, parties, fundraisers, celebrations and weddings.
Compass Group Australia Executive Director, Michael Lambourne, said the company is excited to be the new catering partner for the delivery of food and beverage services.
“We believe The Maali will provide Perth and wider the community with leading function and boardroom facilities unmatched in the state,” Mr Lambourne said.
“The stunning new retail and function facilities will be transformational for the Zoo and the perfect platform for us to introduce our quality and innovative catering services.
“Our menus will incorporate locally-sourced produce and will be tailored to deliver value to drive customer satisfaction and engagement.”
The facilities will open in spring and are located an 8-minute ferry ride from the city’s CBD, allowing guests to arrive in style.
