Travelodge Wellington has announced that a major refurbishment will commence on October 4 that will see the hotel cease trading until July next year.

The Toga Group, which acquired the property in April 2008, is investing $9 million to transform the 132-room hotel into one of the best 3.5- to 4-star properties in Wellington.

Everything from light fittings to security cards will be revamped and plasma screens will be installed in every room.

Additionally, all conferencing spaces will get a facelift to boost the hotel’s capability to host small- and medium-sized conference groups.  The foyer will also be transformed, introducing a café.

In line with the revitalised Travelodge brand in New Zealand and Australia, the style of Travelodge Wellington will be fresh and modern with an emphasis on delivering comfortable hotel accommodation complete with up-to-date technology.

“The new-look Travelodge hotel will offer guests a fresh and modern accommodation choice in central Wellington,” said Toga Group area manager – New Zealand, Murray Blunden, “The friendly and efficient service of the Travelodge Wellington team makes this hotel a smart choice for value conscious business and leisure travelers.”
