Event organisers looking to take groups to Townsville now have a new venue option, with the re-opening of the Convention Centre at Rydges Southbank Townsville.
The North Queensland property has invested significantly into the new-look conference and event venue, which can accommodate up to 500 delegates.
“Following an investment in substantial upgrades, we are very pleased to unveil the new Rydges Southbank Convention Centre, which will provide state-of-the-art conferencing facilities for local and interstate guests alike,” said general manager Stephen Ratcliffe.
The Convention Centre offers four event spaces, including the Grand Ballroom which now features white panelled walls, feature wall lighting and a grand chandelier.
The Foyer features floor-to-ceiling timber window frames to bring the outdoors in and polished timber flooring set against a heritage fireplace.
For smaller meetings and events, the Convention Centre’s meeting rooms provide space for small groups of up to seven people.
New technology has also been installed throughout the venue, including updated AV equipment and projection screens as well as free Wi-Fi for delegates.
Groups can stay onsite at Rydges Southbank Townsville, which offers 98 rooms, 24-hour reception, pool and spa.
Dining options include the hotel’s signature restaurant, Southbank Bar & Grill, led by executive chef James Quinn. New conference menus will be released in the coming weeks to coincide with the venue’s re-opening.
